Fountain pen resting on paper

I’m a massive fan of goal-setting. Whether it’s psychological, metaphysical ‘woo-woo’ or a mixture of both, it works for me! When I’m clear about what I want and where I’m headed, life opens up the most beautiful possibilities for me and incredible synchronicities fall into place.

The thing is, intention must be backed up with action. And although Vision Boards get you focussed and inspired, they don’t help you fill in the missing links to step you practically towards your goal… …But a Vision BOOK does!

This year, I decided to create a vision book that has all the pretty, uplifting and touchy feely stuff that we love about vision boards.

But it’s packed with an extra layer of ‘how-to-do-it-ness’, tangible plans and action steps to bring my dreams to life. So if you’re searching for feel-good inspo with a big dose of practical value, this could be for you too! Here’s how it’s done.

First, decide on the main domains in your life that matter most.

These are mine:

Travel and Play (Leisure, adventure & fun domain)
Love & Connection (Relationships)
Vitality & Energy (Healthy of Body and Mind)
Abundance (Finances and Business)
Creativity & Curiosity (Both personal and professional – for instance, big business projects fit into this domain. Curiosity covers my thirst to learn new things, like taking a language course.)
Spaciousness & Ease (Peace, spirituality & simplicity)
Now, I have a beautiful Kikki K Yearly Planner (anyone else spend waaaaayyy too much money in that store??) filled with blank tabs just waiting to have these domains written on.

However, if you’re more disciplined with stationery than I am, any tabbed notebook will do! The next step is to make the start of each section or domain kinda like a mini vision board of what you want in that domain. I choose pictures that evoke emotion, as I think a visual emotional impression of my dreams are far more powerful than a literal translation.

For instance, what feels better of these two options:

Option 1) A majestic photograph of a great expanse of ocean, representing freedom and abundance, OR Option 2) A picture of a make-believe bank statement reading $200K? I know what inspires me more and it’s not the numbers! Now for the fun bit!

Put on some good tunes and decorate your little heart and soul out!! I hit the craft store, bought a few mags and raided my nephew’s art supplies.

Yours can be a simple or elaborate as you desire. Now…The MOST important step. Start writing out some Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic & Time Sensitive steps to put your dreams in motion.

This is meant to be expansive, rather than overwhelming, so don’t feel like you need to plan your year down to the enth degree here.

The concept is to plant your feet in the right direction and adjust, recalibrate and fluidly design more goals as you feel into it.

Choose a mixture or things that excite and challenge you to stretch your comfort zone! LASTLY… Put your vision book somewhere you will see it daily.

It is designed to be loved, touched, scratched and doodled in, journalled upon and revised often. I prefer to work digitally these days, so many of my specific action items go into a google doc but this Book keeps me on track and aligned with a vision that lights me up. I hope it lights you up too!
